Be Like Jesus

All of the once renowned men and women were assembled.
The great and mighty were reverent and humbled.
Some had commanded large armys and navies
and ruled over men, women, children and babies.
For some, the riches of the world were once in their possession
and a multitude knew of their fame and grand ambition.
It was judgement day and every knee was bowed in submission
to the greatest One of all, with the hope of salvation.
As a boy, Joseph and Mary raised him quite simply,
the true Lamb of God, sent from heaven directly.
On earth He was mocked and abused and betrayed.
Yet for the love of all mankind, He gave His life so we could be saved.
He was perfect and without guile or sin –
the only one qualified to judge the heart within.
So, what is the measure of a man or woman?
Is it to seek worldly honors or to become like Him?
How will we be judged and which consequences shall we face?
What are the criteria on how to secure the best final-resting-place?
Now, each person would receive their reward,
based upon the desires of their hearts and efforts to follow the Lord.
Each one would receive what they deserved
according to the righteous character they had preserved.
What attributes of Jesus did they seek to obtain?
Which of His teachings have they lived and maintained?
Did the love of God dwell in their hearts
and love and care for others become their guiding star?
Did they treat others with mercy, kindness, charity, love and respect?
Did they give to another rather than take?
The only standard that would prevail was this:
How is this person like Jesus?
